Encounter
Mixed media on canvas
80 x 70 x 2,5 cm
After the many months of lockdown and forced social distancing, the painting celebrates the renewed possibility of encountering people of diverse cultural backgrounds and ethnicities. It is also symbolizing the encounter with a multitude of parts of our inner being, which sometimes can look very different from each other and still coexist inside of us.
Freedom
Acrylic and markers on canvas
50 x 50 x 2,5 cm
After having visited the remains of the lager in Mauthausend, I stopped on a field of wildflowers on the banks of the Danube. That night, the visit triggered a dream of a multitude of beautiful and multicoloured flowers, dancing graciously in the wind. Like the movement of a mass of people walking in the streets of a large city. That appeared to me as the symbol of freedom and of the renewed energy of life that takes over after so much cruelty and suffering.
Lovers
Acrylic, iron liquid, iron powder, charcoal, soft pastels
80 x 100 x 2,5 cm
This painting was inspired by a statue of embracing lovers, which stood near my flat in France. I particularly appreciate this work which arouses so many different emotions. Several details can only be discovered by getting closer and observing carefully. Then many shapes and symbols appear. The man's arm, surrounding the person he loves, is a symbol of protection and love, which is universal in all cultures.
Night flowers
Acrylic and markers on canvas
80 x 80 x 2,5 cm
I was on a field one dark night and observed how it is difficult to see the colours of the flower, if not by pointing a direct light onto them. This painting reflects the thought of how reality can appear in different ways according to the light or to the consciousness that we can put on it. The painting is square and very geometric. Therefore, it can be hung in any direction and it looks like a different painting each time it is turned around. Just like reality, when it is seen from different angles.

About the artist:
"Every canvas conceals a harmony of its own. The artist's gesture reveals it.
"Through a journey in my 'Floating Forms' series I would like to invite people to rediscover familiar objects, people and everyday gestures in an almost dreamlike dimension.
My works attracts from afar with their contrasting masses, then, as one gets closer, a world of shapes, colours and details reveals itself. It tickles the imagination, inviting to confront the painting directly. Let the curiosity lead you into this enchanted place, and give free rein to sensations, thoughts and emotions.
I like to think of my paintings as a connector between my inner world of curiosity and imagination, and the public who enjoys the works. This is why I attach particular importance to the physical display of my paintings. I believe that the direct, physical confrontation with the work of art - body to body - generates an exchange of interesting energy.
Usually at the beginning of my creative process there is not much intentionality, but rather a free flow of emotions. I like to call this stage 'chaos', but I could also call it 'chance'. Something happens on the canvas, which comes from my subconscious. Then comes a dialogue with the support, with the shapes, with the colours and a more conscious intention to make sense of the masses. And faces, characters, objects... emerge.
I feel like a sculptor who draws the shape of his statue from a marble block".
