About the artist:

Fundamental to my process is anthropomorphic abstraction. Finding the human form and bringing out its emotive states in paint, creating a sculptural surface. If not the human form, it is natural phenomena and structures.

The result of paint mixed with other materials and textures is a painting that is both representational and plastic. My practice is directed towards understanding the behaviours of materials in different conditions with different methods of intervention, and the formation of these interactions into a figuration that is ambiguous.

Influences: Edna Manley, Isabel Rawsthorne & Gene Pearson Born (1998) and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Clio Sears studied History of Art at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, the Netherlands, and is now a London-based artist and graphic designer
