Kinuko Imai Hoffman is a contemporary artist working in abstract form and texture. She studied the highly skilled art form of Chinese brush painting. Initially, she trained in the Song Dynasty style in Taiwan. Later she learned the abstract technique of traditional southern style painting in Hong Kong. In 2003, Imai Hoffman moved to New York City where she encountered Western style painting. She studied at the National Academy School of Fine Arts and explored still life and landscape painting in oil. In 2009. Imai Hoffman joined the Art Students League of New York and focused on abstraction with mixed media.

Imai Hoffman blends tradition and abstraction developed across her extensive training and experiences as an artist. Her multicultural journey led her to seek a freer form of abstract expression. She uses a range of mixed media in her work, such as pumice, paper, wood, string and cloth to achieve an understated complexity and clarity.

Imai Hoffman was born in Kyoto, Japan and currently resides and works in New York City.
