Art is a form of expression of our experience, taking in that which moves us and retransmitting it through us to be part of the world we inhabit. I develop my artwork by understanding creativity as the meeting point between our inner space and the external world. Ultimately, we compose artworks and shape the spaces around us and in return these will shape us.
I am inspired by Van Gogh statement “It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much and can accomplish much, and what is done in Love is well done.”
To be able to develop something new that adds good and beautiful value, we first need to absorb what is around us and then use this knowledge along with contemporary thinking to interpret and express what we see and feel.
My creative process goes by having enough space and time to go through the experiences that move my inspiration and allow natural expression. Music, morning walks, coffee, discussions, books, all would be captured and composed on the canvas as colors, tones, shapes, subjects, and ideas.
My artwork centers around a solitary protagonist, creating a sense of anticipation and intimacy. I use oil paints medium as they have smooth blending and vibrant intense colors. This supports my work to balance between color scheme, value, and saturation which is important in my technique for setting the mood and the ambiance.
Through my composition and choice of colors I work to communicate genuine emotions and create an evocative mood, capturing the depth of our feelings and offering a space for contemplation on the complexity of the human experience in our modern world.
Flowers are one of my favourite motifs because their variety of colour and form is
impressive. I also like to take photos of arranged bouquets and try to bring them onto
canvas with my own touch of feelings.
At the moment I love to paint quick and simple portraits - I call them speedpainting
portraits. The challenge is to capture the expression and character of the person in the shortest possible time with doodling techniques. This is more about the process than a perfect result.
