Manuel Martin

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by colors. I would crush blackberries from the garden to create my favorite shades and paint on tape with markers to bring the colors to life. Today, painting allows me to immerse myself in a world where I can express my feelings and emotions through color. In doing so, I create something unique, with the goal of positively touching people.
A central theme in my work is the interplay of light and shadow. For me, light can only exist through shadow. Light represents strength, warmth, courage, and hope – values I strongly believe in. I am convinced that we can achieve anything if we believe in ourselves.
I live and work in Bad Königshofen/Bavaria and was born on July 11, 1987. My preferred technique is the intricate layering method using high-quality oil paints. All raised textures in my works are created directly from the paint, giving them a unique depth and power. Due to the slow drying time of the oil paints, I develop a strong connection with each piece, as I invest significant time in their composition.
Through my art, I aim to evoke profound emotions in the viewer. My works are intended to convey strength, warmth, courage, and hope – emotions that uplift and inspire us.
I was born on July 11, 1987, in Bavaria, Germany, into a family of painters now in its fourth generation. Art and the craft of working with colors have always been an integral part of my life. After finishing school, I chose to pursue formal training as a painter and had the privilege of learning from a seasoned master. Under his guidance, I not only acquired traditional painting techniques but also developed a deep passion for using painting as a form of artistic expression.
This apprenticeship and the comprehensive knowledge of techniques, ranging from classical layering methods to the subtle depiction of light and shadow, significantly shaped my artistic journey. The expertise passed down through my family over generations helped me discover my unique artistic voice and bring greater depth to my work.
In my art, I focus intensely on the relationship between color, light, and emotion. I primarily work with oil paints, as their versatility allows me to create extraordinary depth and vibrancy. The interplay of light and shadow is at the heart of my work, as it provides the foundation for visually capturing emotions and inner worlds.
My motivation as an artist is to evoke an emotional response in the viewer. I aim for my works to be not only seen but also felt—they should inspire reflection and create a connection between the viewer's inner world and the power of colors.
My paintings have been exhibited in various galleries, including the Grace Denker Gallery in Hamburg and the Little Van Gogh gallery. These opportunities allowed me to showcase my art to a wider audience and receive invaluable feedback that has driven my artistic growth.
Today, I live and work in Bavaria, where I continue my family's tradition while pursuing my passion for artistic painting. I see my work as a bridge between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary, emotionally resonant art.
